WHAT THIS SERVICE DOES

A calculation proves the idea. A drawing helps people build it correctly.

Structural drawings translate the engineer’s design into plans, sections, member references, bearings, levels and key details. They show where structural elements sit, how they relate to the architecture and what the contractor must allow for.

Why it is required

They are required when calculations alone would leave too much open to interpretation. Clear drawings reduce pricing assumptions, coordination gaps and last-minute questions when walls, ceilings and floors have already been opened.

A well-coordinated drawing package gives the homeowner, designer, contractor and Building Control reviewer the same understanding of the work before construction begins.

Structural drawings laid out across a table

Clarity on paper means fewer unsettling decisions in the middle of a build.

BEHIND THE FINISHES

What your engineer is tracing before the work disappears.

Structural engineering is largely about understanding the elements a finished home will conceal. These are the decisions that protect safety, comfort, approvals and the cost of changing course later.

01

Bearing lengths

The support hidden inside walls at the ends of new beams and lintels.

02

Connections

Bolts, plates, welds, straps and fixings that allow separate elements to act together.

03

Levels and zones

The depths that affect ceilings, floors, stairs, glazing and service routes.

04

Restraint details

Ties and interfaces that are easy to miss once finishes are installed.

A straightforward route from brief to build.

Questions, answered clearly.

Are drawings included with every calculation package?

The exact deliverables are confirmed in the proposal. Some small beam designs need only a marked-up sketch, while larger projects benefit from a full drawing package.

Can you work from an architect’s model?

Yes. We can coordinate with supplied plans, PDFs or models where the information is suitable and current.
