WHAT THIS SERVICE DOES

The best time to verify structural work is before the finishes hide it.

A structural inspection is a focused site review of a defined element, concern or stage of work. It may compare exposed construction with the design information, verify key assumptions or record observations needed to decide the next action.

Why it is required

It is required when photographs are insufficient, existing information is uncertain or a critical element is about to be covered. Timely inspection can prevent small discrepancies becoming expensive demolition and rework later.

The reassurance comes from seeing the right evidence at the right moment, then giving the project team a clear, proportionate instruction before work continues.

Engineers inspecting a structure from access scaffolding

Good site decisions are calm, recorded and made before the evidence disappears.

What you receive

01

Focused site review

Inspection against the agreed question, stage or structural detail.

02

Recorded observations

Concise notes, photographs and limitations where a written record is required.

03

Prompt guidance

Clear actions for the project team, with design changes quoted separately if needed.

BEHIND THE FINISHES

What your engineer is tracing before the work disappears.

Structural engineering is largely about understanding the elements a finished home will conceal. These are the decisions that protect safety, comfort, approvals and the cost of changing course later.

01

Reinforcement and foundations

Depth, size, cover and arrangement before concrete or backfilling removes access.

02

Bearings and connections

The support, bolts, welds, plates and fixings hidden by walls and ceilings.

03

Existing construction

Joist directions, wall build-ups and other assumptions revealed during opening-up.

04

Workmanship evidence

What can be observed at the agreed stage, within the limitations of a focused visit.

A straightforward route from brief to build.

01 Share the address, proposed works and any drawings or photographs.

02 We confirm scope, fee, information needed and whether a visit is appropriate.

03 Your engineer delivers the agreed information and supports reasonable review queries.

Questions, answered clearly.

Do you sign off construction?

We can inspect defined structural items, but this is not continuous supervision and does not replace contractor quality control or Building Control inspection.

When should I book an inspection?

Before structural elements are concealed. Send photographs and programme dates early so the correct stage can be agreed.
